dKart Office

dKart Feature Object Database (FODB) is an advanced tool for centralized storage, updating and managing cartographic data. As part of the dKart Office suite, FODB ensures consistency and accuracy of scale-independent objects across all affected charts.

The information stored in the database fully complies with the S-57 3.1.3 standard, including information encoding and object identification. In addition, it allows storage of data Additional Military Layers of ENCs and Inland ENCs. It also allows user to store data for user-defined objects and attributes for managing internal information about hydrographic and navigational objects.

Its query tools allow accurate search of objects by attributes, locations or user conditions, while users can edit object attributes, spatial geometry and hierarchical relationships using a visual chart editor. Comparison and analysis tools are also available for enhanced data management. Embedded testing ensures compliance with S-58 standards, guarantees data correctness and integrity.

The system makes it easier to receive information updates through automatic notifications from the NtM or Source Messages databases. FODB provides a comprehensive solution for managing, analyzing and compiling hydrographic and navigation data as part of the dKart office software package. This improves the productivity and quality of ENC production , increasing the reliability and consistency of information and saving costs associated with ENC production and maintenance.

dKart Publisher provides tools for automatic conversion of vector electronic charts (ENCs) into paper charts. This process ensures:

dKart Publisher is software developed by GeoPhone Group International OY. It is an environment where ENC data is converted into an electronic version of a paper chart, followed by further editing and preparation of the so-called "original layout" in PDF or TIF format. dKart Publisher is used for a wide range of tasks, including bathymetric data processing, macro management, quality control of updates, and, of course, the creation and editing of charts. The software supports various data formats, such as S-57, Inland ENC, DCF (dKart Chart Format), GeoTIFF, and others.

There are two types of licenses available: local and network licenses.

• Local license is tied to a specific computer and requires a hardware dongle (eToken or Sentinel).
• Network license (NL) allows the software to be used on multiple computers within a local network (LAN) or remotely over the Internet, managed by a centralized license manager. The number of simultaneously running instances of the application can be limited by the network license.

To use a network license, follow these steps:

1. Install Sentinel RMS License Manager on a server that will manage the licenses.
2. Install dKart Publisher on client computers.
3. When the application starts on a client machine, it sends a license request to the License Manager.
4. If a license is available, the License Manager grants access.
5. License updates are applied using a V2C file provided by the vendor, which is processed through the License Manager.

The Presentation Library (PL) is a set of files containing graphical symbols, fonts, and scripts used to visualize objects on the chart according to the national standards of hydrographic offices (HOs). The PL defines how objects (such as buoys, depths) are displayed on the chart.

• The path to the PL must be specified in dKart Publisher settings.
• The software supports multiple PLs and allows connecting to different graphical libraries within a PL.

dKart Publisher offers a comprehensive set of tools for geometry editing, including:

• Adding and removing nodes
• Splitting and merging edges
• Line smoothing
• Geometry optimization
• Creating contours and cutting holes around objects
• Converting symbols and text into regions
• Rotating and moving objects
• Annotation tools

Geometry editing is organized in sessions, allowing users to accept or discard all changes as a single unit.

dKart Publisher integrates with the dKart Office bathymetry database (BDB), providing access to individual models (IMs) with archived status and bathymetric products.
Users can:

• View BDB content and display IMs in Chart View.
• Create new bathymetric products, such as depth contours and selected depth soundings.
• Use bathymetric data for updating paper charts.
• Load bathymetric products in S-57 electronic chart format.

Macros are independent utilities designed to automate tasks related to data processing and national standard applications.

• dKart Publisher uses macros for processing Notices to Mariners (NtM).
• dKart Macros Manager is used to add, delete, and edit macros in the database.
• Users can set a "current" macro that will be applied automatically within dKart Publisher.

dKart Publisher includes powerful quality control (QC) tools, enabling users to compare updated data with the original.

• The Updater function allows all updates to be reviewed in a single window.
• Topology verification detects errors such as self-intersections of area contours and internal contour overlaps.
• Additional tools help detect objects outside the coverage zone to ensure data consistency.
