On February 25, the dKart team held a key meeting with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to discuss the challenges and strategies associated with the transition from the S-57 standard to the new S-101 format for Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs).
Representing dKart at the meeting was Andrey Sabaydash, CEO of GeoPhone, who presented his vision for a seamless transition to the new format. His approach is centered around the use of the dKart Evolution software suite, which enables bidirectional conversion between S-57 and S-101. This solution ensures that maritime operators can maintain compatibility with both standards during the transition period, minimizing operational disruptions while benefiting from the advanced capabilities of S-101.
The discussion covered crucial topics such as the adaptation of ECDIS systems, data migration strategies, and the impact on end-users, including ship operators and port authorities. MPA representatives emphasized their commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and explored potential collaboration opportunities with dKart to support the maritime industry during this shift.
The meeting marked an important step in fostering cooperation between dKart and one of the world's leading maritime administrations. Further discussions and technical workshops are expected to follow as the industry moves closer to full S-101 implementation.
